Toddler Program at Clarian Place
At Clarian Place, our toddler program nurtures the natural curiosity, energy, and independence of children ages 13 months to 36 months. As toddlers begin to assert themselves and explore the world around them, we create a safe, engaging space that encourages both mental and physical development through play, discovery, and intentional interactions.
Language & Communication
- Daily reading, songs, and fingerplays to build vocabulary and listening skills
- Picture books and simple games to support word-object recognition
- Encouraged use of expressive language, gestures, and sign language (ASL)
- Teachers model healthy communication: eye contact, turn-taking, and respectful conversation
- Toddlers are heard, understood, and given time to respond
Physical Development
- Large Motor Skills: Running, walking, climbing, balancing, throwing, jumping
- Fine Motor Skills: Grasping, stacking, zipping, dumping, filling, self-feeding
- Daily indoor and outdoor play promotes coordination and muscle strength
Creative Exploration
- Art: Toddlers explore with crayons, paint, chalk, glue, playdough, and collage
- Blocks: Daily access to soft, wood, and plastic blocks to build and imagine
- Dramatic Play: Pretend play with dolls, telephones, baskets, and dress-up
- Music & Movement: Instruments, multicultural songs, dance, and rhythmic games
Learning from the World Around Them
- Nature: Outdoor time, sand and water play, and daily interaction with the natural world
- Numbers & Math Concepts: Counting, comparing sizes, and using number words through play
- Five Senses: Sensory-rich activities using taste, smell, sight, sound, and touch
- Shapes, Sizes, and Colors: Discovery through toys, games, and exploration
Developing Life Skills
- Toddlers begin learning to care for themselves and interact positively with others
- Toilet training, handwashing, dressing, and mealtime routines are encouraged
- Social-emotional growth is supported through consistent routines and gentle guidance
- Our curriculum includes experiences from First Foundations™ Early Learning Curriculum, emphasizing independence, empathy, and exploration
